Best family organiser apps in the UK (2026)
The shared calendars and the letter-readers UK families actually use, ranked by what they are for rather than by stars: TimeTree, Cozi, Google Calendar, Skylight, FamilyWall, Nuet, Sense, Cyril and AskBobbie.

Most "best family organiser" lists rank nine apps by stars and put their own first. This one sorts them by what they are for, because a family that needs a shared calendar and a family drowning in school letters need different things, and no single app is the best of both.
We make one of these. It is in the list, with its gaps, and the table on the longer comparison has every claim and its source.
If you need a shared calendar
TimeTree: the best free one. Everyone edits the same calendar and every event has a comment thread. No lists, no meals, no reading; that is the point. Cozi vs TimeTree.
Google Calendar: free, everywhere, and probably where one of you already is. Works if everyone looks at it, which is the hard part.
Cozi: the all-rounder, with shopping lists, to-dos and meals beside the calendar. Now effectively paid, from $39 a year.
FamilyWall: Cozi's nearest rival, with location sharing. Same trade-offs, similar money.
Skylight: a calendar on a screen in the kitchen, from $159 plus $79 a year for the useful features. If your family responds to a physical calendar on the wall, this is that.
If the problem is the school letters
Nuet: reads your Gmail or Outlook inbox directly and makes events from school emails, photos and voice notes. Knows ParentMail, Arbor and School Gateway. iPhone only.
Sense: reads the notifications from ParentMail, Arbor, MCAS and ClassDojo and fills the calendar. iPhone and Android.
Cyril: launched August 2026. Forward emails, photos and screenshots; it makes dated actions per child. Every English state school listed.
AskBobbie: one email address you give the school, or a forwarding rule, plus WhatsApp for photos and voice notes; letters read into dates, money, kit and forms under the right child; a calendar every grown-up shares; questions in words; dinners, shopping and to-dos too. Free in early access. Gaps: installs from the browser rather than an app store; forwards rather than reading your inbox; WhatsApp round-ups only within WhatsApp's day window. Nuet vs Sense vs Cyril vs AskBobbie.
The honest ranking
- For most UK families with school-age children: a letter-reader, because the reading is the work. Try two on their trials.
- For a family that just wants everyone to see the same dates: TimeTree.
- For a family that wants lists and meals as well and will pay: Cozi.
- For a family that needs it on the wall: Skylight.

Questions people ask
- What is the best free family organiser?
- TimeTree, for a shared calendar with comments. Google Calendar if everyone already uses it. Neither reads a school letter; for that you are into trials and subscriptions, or AskBobbie while it is free in early access.
- Is Cozi still free?
- Only in name. The free calendar now shows the next 30 days. Cozi Gold is $39 a year and Max $79; treat it as a paid app and judge it on that.
- Do any of these know about UK schools?
- Nuet, Sense, Cyril and AskBobbie do: they recognise ParentMail, Arbor, ClassDojo and the rest, and file things by child. The American calendar apps do not.
