TimeTree alternatives for UK families (2026)

TimeTree is the best free shared calendar, so why leave it? Because it does nothing but the calendar. Where to go when a family outgrows it: lists, meals, or the reading of school letters.

TimeTree is one of the few apps in this space that is genuinely usable free, and most families should stay on it. The ones who leave want one of three things it does not do.

You want lists and meals beside the calendar

Cozi (paid now, $39 a year) or FamilyWall. Both put shopping, to-dos and meals in the same app as the calendar. AskBobbie does the same, plus the reading below.

You want it on the kitchen wall

Skylight: a screen that shows the family calendar, from $159 plus $79 a year for the useful features. It can show a Google calendar, so TimeTree via Google works too.

You want the school letters read for you

This is the real reason. TimeTree is where you put a date once you know it; the work is knowing it. The letter readers take the email or the photo and do that part. AskBobbie adds WhatsApp, questions in words, and the lists.

Keeping TimeTree anyway

If you like TimeTree and want the reading, connect a reader to Google Calendar and show that Google calendar in TimeTree. AskBobbie's Google Calendar switch puts the family's confirmed things into a Google calendar of their own; TimeTree can show it. Two apps, no re-typing.

Questions people ask

Is there anything wrong with TimeTree?
For a shared calendar, no. It is free, reliable and simple. Families leave it when they want lists and meals beside the calendar, or when the work has become reading the school's letters rather than typing dates.
Can I keep TimeTree and add something?
Yes. Most readers sync with Google Calendar, and TimeTree can show a Google calendar, so a reader can feed TimeTree through Google. Two apps, but no re-entering.
