Google Calendar: connect, the two switches, disconnect
Bring your Google events into Bobbie so the family's week and your own sit together. Show Bobbie's calendar in Google if you want. Send edits back if you want. Each is a separate switch, and disconnecting removes everything.

The short version. Settings, Integrations, Connect Google, allow. Your Google events then show in Bobbie. Two switches, both off to start: Show the AskBobbie calendar in Google, and Send edits back. Disconnect removes everything and revokes the permission.

Connecting
- Settings, Integrations, then Connect Google in the Google Calendar card.
- Google asks which account, then whether to allow AskBobbie to see and edit your calendars. Press Allow. If it warns that the app is unverified, press Advanced, then Go to AskBobbie; the review takes Google a few weeks.
- You are back in Bobbie. Within a minute your Google events appear on the calendar and Today, in a quieter style than the family's own.
The two switches
- Show the AskBobbie calendar in Google. Bobbie makes one calendar in your Google account, called AskBobbie, and writes the family's confirmed things into it. Your other calendars are untouched. Useful if you live in Google Calendar at work.
- Send edits back. If you move or rename one of those things in Google, the change comes back to Bobbie. Off, Google is a view; on, it is a two-way street for Bobbie's own calendar only.
Both are off until you tick them.
Disconnecting
Press Disconnect. Bobbie removes every Google event it pulled in, deletes its copies of your permission, and tells Google to revoke it. The AskBobbie calendar in your Google account is left where it is, empty of anything Bobbie will write again; delete it from Google if you want it gone.
You can also remove AskBobbie from your Google account permissions at any time.
What is really happening
Google gives Bobbie a token that lets it read your calendars and write to one it created. The token is stored encrypted and used only from our servers. Events are pulled in every fifteen minutes. Google user data is shown to your household, used to answer your questions, and never for anything else; the privacy notice has the full statement.
Questions people ask
- Google says the app is unverified. Is that safe?
- Yes. Google shows that warning to every new app until its review is complete; ours is under way. Press Advanced, then Go to AskBobbie, and carry on. The permission it asks for is the calendar one and nothing else.
- Will Bobbie change my existing Google events?
- No. Bobbie reads your Google events and shows them in the app. It writes only to a calendar of its own called AskBobbie in your account, and only if you switch that on.
- Can each grown-up connect their own Google?
- Yes. Each person connects from their own login, and the family's calendar shows everyone's Google events together.
