Where your data goes

The plain-English version of the privacy notice: what is kept, who reads it, where it is stored, how long it stays, and what never happens to it.

Updated 28 September 20262 min read

The short version. Bobbie keeps your household's calendar, lists and conversations while you have an account, and the letters and photos for thirty days. Reading is done by AI providers under contract, never for training. Nothing is sold, no adverts, no tracking. Delete the account and it all goes.

What is kept

  • Your account: name, email, hashed password, and two-step settings if you set them.
  • Your household: its name, the grown-ups and what they are called, children's first names, year groups and schools.
  • What comes in: emails, photos, PDFs and voice notes sent to Bobbie, for thirty days.
  • What Bobbie read from them: the events, payments and to-dos on your calendar, for as long as you keep them.
  • Conversations with Bobbie, so it can follow a thread.
  • Phone numbers you have linked, and the Google permission if you connected it, both encrypted.

Who touches it

  • Anthropic reads letters and answers questions, on our behalf. Not used to train their models.
  • OpenAI turns voice into text and text into voice. Same rule.
  • Google, only if you connect your calendar.
  • Meta, which runs WhatsApp, only if you link a phone.
  • Cloudflare receives email to your Bobbie address and serves the site.
  • Resend sends the emails Bobbie sends you.
  • Our hosting provider, in the EU, runs the application and its database.

Every one is under contract to use it only to provide the service. The full table, with countries, is in the privacy notice.

How long it stays

What How long
Emails, photos, files sent to Bobbie 30 days after arrival
Things in the Bin 30 days
Bobbie's spoken replies (audio) up to 14 days
Your calendar, lists, household, conversations while your account exists
Google Calendar data until you disconnect
Your account until you delete it; backups within 30 days after

What never happens

Your data is never sold. There are no adverts and no tracking cookies. Nothing you send trains anyone's model. Nobody outside your household can see your calendar, your photos, or your children's names. Bobbie never emails or messages anyone but you.

What is really happening

Everything travels over HTTPS. Files sit on private storage that only your household can reach through the app. Tokens and phone numbers are encrypted in the database. Every image is checked automatically once for content that should not be there. You can turn on two-step sign-in for your own login, and every grown-up in the household has their own.

Questions people ask

Is my data used to train AI?
No. The model providers we use are under contract not to train on anything sent to them, and we do not train anything ourselves.
Can anyone at AskBobbie read my letters?
Only to fix a problem you have asked us to fix, and only the named people who run the service. Nobody browses households.
Where are the servers?
The application and database run in the EU. Reading and voice go to providers in the United States under the UK's transfer rules. The full table is in the privacy notice.
