Deleting your account

One step from Settings, Profile. What goes, what stays for the rest of the household, when the backups follow, and what to do first if you want to keep your calendar.

The short version. Settings, Profile, scroll to the bottom, Delete account, type your password, confirm. Your account is deleted at once; if you were the last grown-up, the household and everything in it goes with you. Backups follow within thirty days.

The Profile settings page, with your details at the top and the delete account section at the bottom.
Profile. Deleting is at the bottom, behind your password.

Before you delete

  • Keep the calendar? Connect Google and switch on Show the AskBobbie calendar in Google; the family's things are then in your Google account and stay there after you delete. Or ask Bobbie to list the term and copy it.
  • Keep the household for someone else? Invite them as a Parent from Settings, Family, and wait until they have joined.
  • Unlink phones first if you would rather; it happens anyway.

Deleting

  1. Settings, Profile.
  2. At the bottom, Delete account.
  3. Type your password and confirm.

You are signed out and the account is gone. Nothing needs to be cancelled; there is no subscription during early access.

What goes

Your login, your name, your round-ups and settings, your linked phone, your Google connection (and Bobbie tells Google to revoke it), and your conversations. If you were the last grown-up: the household, its children, the calendar, the lists, the letters and photos, all of it.

If other grown-ups remain, the household stays with them, and things you added stay on the family's calendar because they are the family's.

What is really happening

Deletion is immediate in the live database. Backups are kept for disaster recovery and are overwritten within thirty days, after which nothing remains. The privacy notice says the same thing in longer words, and there is a public page on deleting your account that Google and Meta ask us to publish.

Questions people ask

I am the only grown-up. What happens to the household?
It is deleted with you: the children, the calendar, the letters, everything. If someone else should keep it, invite them as a Parent first, then delete your account, and the household stays with them.
Can I just leave a household instead?
Yes. If there is another Parent in it, ask them to remove you from Settings, Family, or email us. Your account stays; you just stop seeing that household.
Can you delete it for me?
Yes. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will do it within a few days and confirm when it is done.
