MyChildAtSchool (MCAS) for parents: logging in, and what it is for

The Bromcom parent app used by many secondaries: the school ID and invitation code, the dashboard, homework and behaviour, payments, and the fix for the login that never works.

MyChildAtSchool, usually MCAS, is the parent app for schools that run Bromcom, which is common in secondaries and academy trusts. It does a lot, and it has the most-failed login in school software. Both are covered below.

Logging in, first time

The school sends an invitation letter or email with three things: the school ID (a number), your username (usually your email), and an invitation code. Download MCAS or go to the website, press Redeem invitation code, and enter all three. Then set a password.

The login fails when the school ID is wrong. It is a number, not the school's name. Check the letter. If the invitation code has expired (they last a few weeks), the office issues a new one.

What you will see

  • Dashboard: attendance, timetable, today's lessons.
  • Homework: set and due, with the teacher's notes.
  • Behaviour: points, both kinds.
  • Announcements: from the office. Trips, events, closures.
  • Parents' evening: booking, when open.
  • Payments, in schools that use Bromcom's own: dinners, trips, clubs.
  • Reports: termly, as PDFs.

Getting the announcements out

MCAS emails announcements to the contact email the school holds, and pushes notifications through the app. To have the announcements read for you, ask the office to add your Bobbie address as a second contact email, or forward with a rule. See giving the school your address.

Questions people ask

It says my school ID is wrong.
It nearly always is. The school ID is a number on the invitation letter, not the school's name or postcode. Check the letter, and that you have chosen the right school from the list if the app offers one.
My child moved school. Does my login move too?
No. Each school issues its own invitation. The old login stops; the new school sends a new letter.
Can both parents log in?
Yes, if the school has both as contacts. Each gets their own invitation code. Ask the office.
