Editing a thing
Title, when, who, where, how much, notes, tags, repeats. Open any item to change it, add tasks under it, leave a note for another grown-up, or see the letter it came from.

The short version. Open the item, press the pencil. Change what you need, press Save. Add a note underneath with @ to pull someone in. The quote from the original letter stays at the bottom whatever you change.
Opening an item
Press it anywhere it shows: the Inbox, Today, the calendar, a board. The item opens over the page with everything about it.
What you can change
Press the pencil at the top right to edit:
- Title and Category (school, club, appointment, home, and so on).
- Starts, the end, or all day. For a deadline or payment, the due date.
- Where.
- Amount and Pay via, for a payment.
- Who: the children it is for, and the grown-ups.
- Repeats: weekly, fortnightly, term-time, until a date. Editing a repeating thing asks whether you mean this one or the whole series.
- Notes: the item's own detail.
- Tags, separated by commas.
Press Save. If the item was in the Inbox, saving also confirms it.
Tasks under a thing
A trip has a form, a payment and a packed lunch. Add tasks under the item and tick them off as you go; the item shows how many are done. Deleting or binning the item takes its tasks with it.
Notes and mentions
Underneath every item is a note box. Write "I've paid this" and it is there for everyone. Write @Dad and Dad sees it on his Today page as something for him. The buttons under the box offer the household's names so you do not have to type them.
The original
At the bottom, in quotes, are the words from the letter Bobbie read this from, with who sent it and the subject. Press it to open the whole email or picture. It stays for thirty days after the letter arrived.
What is really happening
Every change is saved to the household's shared calendar, so the other grown-ups see it immediately. If you have Google Calendar connected with "send edits back" on, the change goes to Google too. A note with a mention is private to the household; nothing about it leaves.
Questions people ask
- Can I add my own thing without a letter?
- Yes. Tell Bobbie ('add Leo's dentist on the 14th at 4') or press the plus on the calendar. It goes straight on, no Inbox, because it is yours.
- What is the difference between notes and the note box?
- The item's own detail (a booking reference, what to bring) lives in the item. The note box underneath is the family's thread on it: 'I've paid this', '@Dad can you do the pick-up?'. Mention someone with @ and they see it on Today.
- What are tags for?
- Filters. Tag things 'trip' or 'medical' and the calendar and boards can show just those. Bobbie adds sensible tags when it reads a letter; you can change them.
