Forwarding school email from Outlook and Hotmail

The short version. Outlook.com in a browser, Settings, Mail, Rules, Add new rule: from the school's domain, forward to your Bobbie address. Save. There is no code to type.

Before you start#

Have your Bobbie address to hand: Settings, Integrations, Copy. Then open Outlook.com in a browser. The phone app cannot make rules, but a rule made in the browser runs for every device.

Make the rule#

1. Press the cog at the top right, then Mail, then Rules.
2. Press Add new rule.
3. Name it School to Bobbie.
4. Under Add a condition, choose From and type the school's email domain, the part after the @, for example oakfield.sch.uk. That catches every address at the school.
5. Under Add an action, choose Forward to and paste your Bobbie address.
6. Press Save.

Outlook does not ask you to confirm the forwarding address. The next email from the school arrives with Bobbie a few seconds after it arrives with you.

If the school uses ParentPay or Arbor#

Those systems write from their own domains, not the school's. Either add a second rule with parentpay.com (or whichever) as the sender, or give that system your Bobbie address directly as a second email. See giving the school your address.

What is really happening#

The rule runs on Microsoft's servers, so it works with your phone off. Bobbie never has your Microsoft password and reads only what the rule sends. The originals stay in Outlook, read or unread, exactly as before, and you can delete the rule at any time.
